ive been searching the internet for more info on m40 turbo conversion,
ive read it can be run 10 psi safely
is this corect on standard internals?
and what is done with managment?, is a standalone ecu needed or modifications to existing ecu needed?
any help would be appreciated
cheers

im moving house so priorities changed for the time being and it got to be a toss up between an m50 change or turboed m40 . but i think the turbo is more fun . the manifold is the big problem if there is an easy way of doing that then the rest wouldnt be that hard i dont think as theres plenty of space in an m40 engine bay to fit induction pipes and theres already a hole low down in the front panel for an intercooler . im sure someone will tell me that im wrong thou lol

Yes, might sell my manifold on it's own or with the whole kit if you like.....reggiebaby wrote:Would consider it myself but lack off funds means no chance. how hard was it chu i imagine the hardest part is the manifold

Whats the problem with jumping straight to MS?
MS has loads of benefits for a small price. I built mine for £200. It gave me boost control, switchable maps, wasted spark and more. So I don't see what your problem is?
You can tune the motronic with a turbo, but it won't be ideal as tuning motronic is only good for low boost. It's a waste of time running low boost on an M40, might aswell do an engine swap.

The problem is that you need 3d mapping with a turbo due to the fact that the boost would kick in at different rpms in different situations. In N/A or supercharged applications at each rpm/throttle point there will always the same amount of air going in, so motronic can control that well.
Wiring in a "whole new management system" isn't difficult, just gut a motronic case and then use the motronic connector and standard loom. Easy.
