hi just trying to find out rough cost of replacing scuttle panel,
I know the panel is not that expensive just trying to see how much it would cost to get a garage to replace it as it needs to be welded in, do the wings need to come off or not , and then painted, I know it depends on labour charge , what should i budget for £300 or £500
thanks

To do the job properly, not only the front wings will need removing, but the windscreen and dashboard and most of the interior as well!
I would suggest that you get a quote from a bodyman on the basis that you take him a car stripped ready for him to work his magic on.

Youth is wasted on the young.
Don't the scuttles need ordering from bmw - since they have the chassis number stamped on them?

Oh and Bally it'll be a costly job, wings, dash windscreen etc need to come out as Daimlerman says, and the other issue is painting it in as youll have to try and blend the paint into the roof pillars or paint the roof aswell as worst case scenario. To be honest, if you bought the car stripped of all interior to me, id charge about £3 to 400 to weld it in and paint it.
Hope this helps.

If you buy your new panel from BMW already stamped with the VIN, make it clear when you order it that you expect the lettering to be stamped to OE standards.
I've seen some that look like they were stamped by the reception class at the local primary school!
