someone to paint an engine?

is there a firm that will re paint a 325i engine? or someone who can give me a quote? getting my 325i in a month or so, and building up the list and costs expected..

Painting an engine properly requires removing the engine. Its a fair bit of time and hassle to do that just for a lick of paint, and will cost you a pretty penny in labour, and gaskets and stuff.

Just give it a proper clean up then take your inlet manifold and rocker cover off and get someone to paint them up. Replace any worn hoses and your car will look a hell of a lot better without too much trouble or cost....

If you are thinking about going to town on it you need the engine out and then you'll want to do the exhaust minfold then it will be something else and so on and so on, before you know it your living the the E30 dream of spending all your hard earned cash and valuable time on the car where you know deep down you won't ever get your money back

Oh and if you have a missus she'll constantly tell you that you love the car more than her and the only other time you'll have left you will be patching up your relationship.

I would ditch the other half, the savings in treats, handling, fuel, more time with the
one you truly love etc etc

Even on a 325 there are not too many obstacles to remove so you can paint the block yourself. Frosts do a proper engine paint with high build colour.

The only drawback is that the instructions for that paint say not to start the engine for 3 days. Mind you that 3 days is quicker than engine out, paint and rebuild.

The core plugs can then be painted in wheel steel or silver and the whole of the engine will look better.

I would also agree a good clean or paint of the mainifold and rocker cover will boost the look straight away for little outlay.

If taking the inlet manifold back to original, then vapour blasting will return it to factory finish.
If painting the rocker and manifold then some use HT paint and others normal paint. I used HT paint on my 320 rocker cover and inlet manifold and nearly 4 years on it is still good.
