Well, i'd have thought the track day clan would prefer a non sunroof model. On the road though i can't see it would have any advantage.
The E36 M3 was a far more civilised car than its predecessor, and i would have thought most would probably have been equipped with a sunroof. It may even have been standard equipment.

No sunroof E36`s are not as rare as E30`s as so many had air con/climate control.
I know of one Evo with no sunroof and my 323 also,oh and the couple of compacts ive owned too didnt have one.

i'm pretty sure a sunroof, and aircon were standard fit options on uk m3s. like most 'options' (even pre specified standard ones) you can opt out of them too, most probably didnt bother as if theyre the same price with or without the sunroof you may aswell have it.

personally i never use the sunroof on mine when driving, only occasionally when parked on hot days i'll have it tilted to allow a little heat out, but close it as soon as i start driving and the aircon kicks in.

on other models both sunroof and aircon may have been options. choose neither and you got neither, pay for the one you want, so you tend to see a lot more aircon / no sunroof non m3 e36s
cheers,

harry

Non- sunroof M3evo cabriolets are really quite common. Have not seen a cabby with a sunroof yet.

cheaper, less weight, more headroom, less things to go wrong, smoother looks, better sound insulation, less places for rust to start.

why WOULD you want a sunroof?

The compact im breaking was an individual too so the dealer tells me.
Started off in Dark Green(still evident under bonnet) with Grey/Blue trim.

Where I live - in Scandinavia I think it should be possible to get an M3 with out a sun roof if it was on the option list and not as standard.

The reason is that in Scandinavia - ppl most like to order their cars with AC instead of a sun roof!
