Which engine you running dude? they all quite easy to do, obviously easier if you have a half complete donor car for all the clips and pipes ect. Let the pedal box wars commence :D

will cost £500-1000 depending on where it is done. worth making sure it is done properly though with all the electrics fully sorted and you might as well put in a new clutch while you are at it. The advice about a donor car is wise sourcing all the bits can be a pain. As for it being easy it is not a job for a novice and is also quite physically hard, gear boxes are heavy old things to manhandle on your own.

do it its the best thing i did to my cabbie
off your donor car you will need ....
gearbox with slave cylinder
prop (point to note my donor was a coupe and the centre bearing mount was different)
pedal box with master cylinder
fluid resevoir
fly wheel
reverse light switch loom
things that a probably best replaced would be...
spigot bearing (30x10x12)cost 2 pound from a bearing traders
clutch
clutch line from master to slave inc flexi

another point to note i initially used my starter motor and on the moment of truth it just whirred away to its self and no amount of persuastion seemed to help i switched it for the one off the donor car and and it fired up straight away
