New to the world of E30.
Had a successession of Audi A3's, and finally bought a 123dM Sport 3 Door in March of this year. Sold it two months later to save some money and buy a credit crunch classic.
As a kid my mother had a 1987 2 door Brilliantrot 318i that myself and my bro adored, so its always been a car i've loved.
After much scouring of the interweb I found what I wanted : an M42 318is in excellent condition with low miles - 60'000 to be precise.
As you will see by the pics below this car has to be one of the finest in existence, and although it hasn't been involved in a show it would be a winner - I’m not really into that.
What a drive - having come from a few diesels recently, this thing is a riot, a real driving experience.
I can't see myself ever wanting to sell this and even when I buy a modern car again soon, its going to sit in my folks garage or the new Glasgow Transport Museum-!
I've done a few tweaks since purchasing, but of course retained the original parts.
-New 1990 M-Tech steering wheel (don't know why it didn't have that) OEM
-Replacement M-Tech gear stick OEM
-Wheels reconditioned (had to, slight corrosion) to exact BBS paint match.
-Analogue replaced with 8 button OBC (easier than 16 button)
-15" Toyos all round
-Possible period radio replacement but to be honest USB tracks are the way forward.
318is 140 BHP
60'000 miles
Alpine Weiss II/Anthracite Check Interior
15" BBS Crossspoke/Basketweave's
Steel windy sunroof
Front fogs
Original Pioneer speaker system (not too bad actually-!)
