I hope you can help me.
I have a problem with my power hood.
When pressing the open button, the rear screen does not fold up - to let the horse shoe open, there was a fairly loud ticking noise.
The rear screen needs to be manually lifted for the horseshoe to open. The rest of the roof opens mechanically.
When resversing the process (closing the hood) the hood does not lift out of the compartment - fairly loud ticking noise, it had to be maually lifted, rear screen gets stuck - again loud ticking noise, the screen needs to be manually lifted again so the horseshoe can close mechanically.

I have dropped both motors and they work.
I have visited the following links to trouble shot and cannot seem to find the problem.

I have taken off the main rod and levers and nothing is worn out.

I know its getting jammed somewhere as when i tried to lift the rear window on opening procedure (with the motors dropped), it would not open - jammed somewhere, with a little brut force it opened along with snapping the joint link - now replaced new from BMW.

What is going on and i hope i have not made it worse :? :(

Kind Regards

I had a similar problem with the horseshoe motor and I was told it was the gears that had worn out and the motor needed replacing....which it did. I have not come across this with the main roof motor though ...give Bill at the E30 centre a ring and ask his opinion..do search under my name as my connection is poor where I am

When opening mine, I always give the roof a helping hand by pushing the front up which helps the roof lift the screen bit.

Hi the roof used to work before as you have described.
all of a sudden it did not lift just loud tickking noise.
Im unsure as to what the roof hoop is?
