Hi,

Does anyone know if i need to wait or drive for a while as i have just changed my OBC over. or do i need to use the orginal chip thing in the new OBC as it seems to have caused havoc with my rev counter, temp gauge (now showing fully hot) etc..

Do i just need to be patient.>?

Thx

Fitting an OBC shouldn't affect the cluster readings.
Sure you haven't dislodged a connector to the cluster?
Or if you disconnected the battery, you may have finished off duff SI board batteries.

Time to check out the earth connections at the top/front right of the glovebox, I think. Loads of brown wires connected to two studs.
If you've got the cluster out, it's worth checking it out before you put it back in.
First, tighten the nuts on the back securing the temp gauge and fuel gauge.
Open it up by taking out all the hex self tappers on the back, and carefully splitting the two halves.Be carefull of the needles on the dials.
On the back half with the dials, locate a rectangular lump on the back near the temp gauge. This lump contains a large resistor with its leads soldered to the PCB just clear of the temp gauge. Chances are both these soldered joints are in poor condition and need resoldering. This cures/prevents a fault with the brake pad wear indicator.
Next, take the front half of the cluster, remove the white "coding" plug from the front, remove the single self tapper holding a plastic retaining bracket in place in the middle, and pull out the SI board. The batteries are obvious.
The plastic retaining bracket also holds the bit of plastic with "check" writtenon it or a blank piece in place, so don't let that fall out.
Next, stick it all back together.
