thats the way it was started elliot - if the people who accept the job dont like that, then all they have to do is decline. If they accept the job thinking they can make a couple of quid out of it, then they shouldnt be doing it, coz they would be in it for the wrong reasons. (Not being arsey about it, just saying.)

But who would bother going to such an extent just to make a couple of quid, and that's literally it - a couple of quid.

Lizzie was removed of moderator powers due to inactivity, it's absolutely nothing personal, it's just that Adam would like more pro-active admins to keep the running of the Zone the best it could be, people who frequent the forum on a daily basis. Fresh faces means fresh ideas!

So how about Scott being made Admin... or myself for that matter.

We've been here for yonks now, and I've still got a fresh face... honest!

:teehee:

To be honest, all this talk of Lizzie being 'asked to leave' is nothing to do with us. It's between the E30 Zone team. You can moan about it all you want, but we're just mere users and have nothing to do with any of the admin side.

She's not going anywhere, as she's already stated, and will still be active on the site...

There's more important things to moan about these days, and this is not one of them. Sorry.

The fact that Adam didn't even speak to me about the decision he had made is downright outrageous.

I will remain on the zone to keep in contact with the people that I had the pleasure of communicating and meeting with.

Also, the zone was devised for making NIL profits. Not even a couple of quid. The team did it to help others, not for making any money.

Now the topic is final.

Lizzie wrote:Adam I don't mind stepping down from the team. It is nothing to do with a title or power, it is all to do with the fact that I am concerned with how the E30zone is run. It is also just the way that you handled yourself. It would have been just polite to have personally phoned me and we could have discussed this rather than me finding out from a pm - You didn't even have the courteousy to email me and given me the option to step down from the team. You didn't even allow me to have the option to come back on board to help out. My illness is something that is for life and not something that I can get over, but I would just have liked the option to have said yes or no. I also found out on the private section of this forum that things were changing before you even told me - the rest of the team knew about it before me!!

I will remain on the E30zone just to make sure that things are running smoothly and that you are not trying to make money out of this site, as the intentions were not to make money out of anyone, other than to pay for running costs. Now that Ant has set up that the running of the site is hosted for free, then there is no need to find any costs from producing stickers, or any other merchandise that has the E30 zone logo etc. Especially as the zone is not registered for VAT purposes.

I expect that there will be some snide comments, but I think that this should be known, as it applies to everyone that uses this site.
oh boy am gona get it now, but it is all in there^^^ :-x

but isn't this what you call sexism??

i have don it now :bolt:

if anybody wants me i will be in the sahara

if the forum costs are zero then why not simply sell the merchandise at cost or close too?

and then IF there is any profit from anything then use it to buy things for the zone stands at shows, stuff like banners and flyers etc.

one thing tho, forget vat - the zone wudnt need to be vat registered unless it was making Ԛ£65k odd a year. Its just plain old tax u need to worry about.

not gonna comment on the lizzie thing - theres a right way and a wrong way to do things. I have my opinions on it but i think it a discussion best kept behind closed doors as it doesnt look good for the zone it being posted up here.

That would be great, but unfortunately not possible because those are actually quite substancial costs and we certainly can't be seen to be over-charging members for merchandise and for other benefits to the zone as that would be just plain immoral.

I know, Pistonheads is a fine example of plenty of merchandise, however as quite rightly explained by Lizzie, the Zone is a non-profit organization and shouldn't charge members extra for things (even if the profit goes to extra benefits to zone members).

theres a hell of a difference between making cash and sticking it in your pocket as opposed to selling "what members want" and then using any moneys made to buy other things for the zone.

Lots of non profit organisations actually make some money, its what they do with it thats important. If they put it back into the organisation then its still a non profit.

this all seems a bit dis functional, i've heard of other moderators going too and it's just brian moore in the fold now?

just a thought when did paul post anything outside of pub chat this past year? locking threads doesn't count either imo. The guy sold his e30 about a month after i started posting on this site. and that is over 18 months ago, yet u get rid of lizzie?

Some proper annoucement wouldn't go a miss

Oh my God... I can't believe you all think this site is going to turn into a profit making business. I'm telling you all now... that will NEVER happen. The only money that is made from this site will be put straight back into it.

I am looking at getting some stickers made up, this will come out of my own pocket and the profit made from selling these will be used to order things like mugs, caps, keyrings, tshirts etc etc.

The zone shop is actually not connected to the zone as such. It's run by a total independant company on our behalf. All profits go to the company who runs the zone shop, it is jsut a service we are providing to members.

On a separate note, people jumping on the bandwaggon with regards to Lizzie had better think about how much they know about what goes on behind the scenes. Don't get yourselves involved about things you know little about.

I've just been in a very similar position with a board that I used to use a lot and did moderation on. I was doing very little active moderating, so I was expecting someone to notice and contact me about it. One day I receieved a curt PM that said " hi, I've removed your admin rights. Thanks for your previous work.". That was about it. Once again, it wasn't the action that annoyed me, it was the manner in which it was done. All that was needed that time was someone to PM me and say "we've noticed that you're not doing much any more, what's your thoughts" etc

not jumping on no wagon here, just think a bit of curt wouldnt go a miss, i dont know lizzie and i dont know adam, but at the end of the day its just common sense to actually "SPEAK" to someone before making a decision like this, i feel all of this has got out of hand and could have been resolved in a better manner instead of getting eveyones 2 bobs worth, if something has gone on "behind closed doors" then surely its gotta be sorted out, not trying to cause any S H I T here but there is obvioulsy bad vibes in the air, as far as us "better watching what we say" goes i think is pathetic really, no one here knows whats gone on behind those "closed doors" but why dont you two have a propper conversation with eachother over the telephone or whatever and stop involving us, at the end of the day if its here on a thread people are gonna respond wether you like it or not F.A.C.T! probably get booted for my honesty but thats me, like it or lump it

fair dooo's bruv, like i said adam not trying to cause S H I T matey, im just speaking from personal experience where ive had a couple of slagging matches with people and ive been told the same, Not meaning to dig at anyone neither buddy, from what i know of you adam you are a sound geeza, Lizzie i dont know at all....sorry, but im quite new to the zone, never saw what it was like before but as from what i am seeing i like very much....its a forum for e30 lovers and that suits me just fine, its just like a few people have said matey that "wars" are not good advertisment i have come to realise this, this is a great forum and you all should be proud of yourselfs regardless of who runs it now, sorry if i sounded blunt in the above post, ive just read it back and thought i came across a bit sharpe, i do appologise but its like one thread that got posted on here "if anyone has personal issues" use the pm facility! your right though matey everyone is entitled to their opinion but you have to draw a line somewhere because people end up taking sides, then that just breaks friendships or makes you like or dislike someone, i by the way am taking no side in this but like you said i have my opinion and i could just see that Lizzie had a problem and things were not right somewhere, its nothing to do me what so ever and now i shall close the hole in my mouth, Appologies again to anyone i have offended  :closed:

i agree with tw166y

it doesn't bother me who does the modding, i'm grateful for whoever put/puts the site here and i enjoy using it

and similarly i don't care if it makes money or not. no-one's forced me to pay anything!

if the mods have disagreements to sort out that's none of my business, better done by direct contact than by dragging it onto the public forum like this in my opinion...

I've been on the zone now for a while and even though i've never met Liz personally, we've chatted about loads of things and she was the mummy of the zone to me. I agree that if someone takes on a job and is unable to do it for long periods due to whatever reasons (Illness in Liz's case) then eventually the person may have to step down because the job still needs to be done, but like Liz says, It's not the stepping down that has hurt the most, but it was the manner in which it was done after years of service and i'm fully with her on that one. There again, Adam has said that he probably could have done it better, which is an acknowledgement on his part that he didn't handle things as well as he could have. Now hindsight is a great thing and if we all had it, then i'm sure we wouldn't have made half the mistakes we've made in the past. Now i've never met Liz or Adam personally, but i have the upmost respect for both of them because they've both done a fantastic job for this site (And i speak as someone who's been here a couple of years now i think lol), so can we please lay this issue to rest before things really get out of hand. Besides as someone said in one of the earlier posts "IT DOESN'T LOOK GOOD WHEN 2 SENIOR MODS ARE WASHING THEIR DIRTY CLOTHES IN PUBLIC" At the end of the day, we all have our openions on what should have happend and how it should have happend. Who should have done what and when, but i think this is one of the few cases where it's best to keep them to yourself.

I hope you're still around Liz cause i'd really love you to see the Bootywagon now. I know you wasn't sure on the colour before, but the new colour is really nice. I wasn't sure about it at 1st, but it's grown on me and it also won best paint at Max Live 2005 in July beating about 600 other cars, some with Ԛ£15k plus airbrushed paintjobs, so i must have done something right and i hope to meet you at one of the shows so you can see her in the flesh.

Adam and the other mods, please keep up the good work. Now lets all have a Zone hug  :thumb: :jester:
