Hankook RS2s
Moderator: martauto
I haven't used R888s but have found the RS2s a huge improvement over T1Rs I ran previously. The RS2s don't appear to wear as quickly, and offer much firmer feel and responsiveness. My feedback is based on 52 laps of the Nurburgring on the RS2s and about 150 laps on T1Rs
I was surprised at the width of the RS2 grooves though, and did wonder about the resulting reduction in contact patch.

Great tyre! Not as good as the R888 but thats reflected in the price!
For me on a light car they are on par with Michelin Pilot Sports.

Pretty sure Johnno had these at the Ring last year, seem to be a very good tyre. My mate had them on his evo and loved them plus they are very cost effective compared with the toyo alternative.

Well if that's the case, then they are an awful tyre (in the dry and hot conditions). They started to lose traction after 2 - 3 laps. I tried a range of tyre pressures from 22 up to 30 and it made little difference. They were shot after 2 races.Jackflash wrote:Yeah I think the full name is Hankook Ventus RS2 Z212
I will never buy them again. I've gone back to R888's and whilst I am sure there are better tyres out there the back to back difference in the Hankooks & R888's was immense.
There is a guy who is selling a set of these in the CSCC and he has said they took a long time for him to get the set up right on the car before they were any good. I'm afraid I don't have the time or the patience for that.
Perhaps better for the wet...??

Cool, well you get what you pay for etc etc so I would imagine (or at least hope!) the 888s are better considering their price. As you said, the Hankooks might be more suited to track days rather than full on racing which is what I'll be using them for anyway
