Got my car on a ramp yesterday to check a few things & both my rear tyres (205/45/16's i now need 2 if anyone has any 4 sale) has been scrubed out on the inside - and they have only done a few thousand miles, and the rest of the tyres are fine

What should the camber b?? on a 325i touring - & how much should it cost for someone to fix it ?

& as i said anyone got a Legal - Cheap 205/45/16?? - please

If it has happened on both sides it is unlikely to be a suspension fault, also
mine does that to, bigger wheels on an e30 = exaggerated camber. If you use soft/cheap tyres, then this will happen more quickly

Hi
I had this problem on my Hartge , after it had suffered quite a heavy side impact.
The tyres would scrub the inside edge down to the cords in 2000 miles (fine before accident)
After numerous hours at the accident repairers , main dealers and arguements with the insurance co who all assured me nothing was wrong .

I then took it to Birds of Uxbridge Hartge UK who told me what was wrong in the car park just by looking at it .

Turned out to be the rear Subframe. Apparently they are designed to absorb impact and therefore twist if you looked down the line of the car from the front you could see the rear wheels were at different angles (hope this makes sense ? )
Then if you put it up on a wheelfree lift the subframe didn't rest on the mounts and was clearly under tension .
After the subframe was changed by the insurance co everything was back to how it was pre accident
cheers
Andy

A lowered E30 will always scrub the inside of the tyres more than the outside due to the extra camber.

Ive got 2 or 3 pairs of my old rear tyres in the shed that are illegal on the inside edge but still have atleast 3mm on the outside edge - my fault for not checking them often enough and then swapping them round.
