Modifying exhaust manifolds
Moderator: martauto
Hi guys, i know its been mentioned before but i really am now stuck.
I need to get my e36 manifolds modified but don't have the equipment/knowledge to do it my self, there isn't anywhere local i can take them as i'd need to take the car as well so they could mock them up and i've tried to contact the guy on the zone who allegedly does them for £150 but i've never had a reply.
Any suggestions? Anyone else on the zone willing to do this mod?
Cheers guys

Where you based mate?
If your near warrington then i may be able to help.I`m assuming that you`ve got the M52 mani`s
I`ve already done my manifold mods (chopped the back one back) but yet to make the down pipes to fit the centre pipes. As i`m using the exhaust on my cab that i`ll be using when i put the lump in it.

Very grateful for the offer but unfortunately i live in south Herefordshire. Yeah i've got a pair of M52 manifolds. Something else i was thinking of is how do you get over the problem of the lambda sensor as the manifolds are geared up to accept one sensor each but the wiring on an m50 is only set up for one lambda?
Dont know what other people are doing but i welded up the lamba holes, but because im using an E36 exhaust system, the hole for the lamba is already there.
If i was to be using an M20 pipe then i would have done the same to the mani`s and drilled a hole and welded a nut on the exhaust some where for the lamba.

A fabricator mate of mine recently made a pair of mani`s for Cook on here.
Started with standard M52 mani`s then run into 51mm Stainless downpipes.Im sure Cook could supply a pic.
Anyway he made up a jig to make these ones which I think he still has?
No idea on his price etc but could have a word?
Based South of Exeter though?

Im estatic about my manifolds. M52 manifolds with 50mm(iirc) stainless downpipes. The quality of the job is nothing short of epic. Im so happy about them!

they look very nicely done
He did a nice job of them.
Sound awesome too and gave good dyno results on his standard M52.
No cutting back of the rear manifold either when using a solid steering coupling, just a small indent in the downpipe was needed I think from memory?

Nice one eko they look just the job, i'm based in Herefordshire but would be more than willing to travel down that way for something of that quality. If you could have a word that would be awesome! Would be good to meet some fellow 24v'ers!
That looks good. Wonder where I would get that done over here in Ireland.
Eko: Could you pm me also about getting these made up by your mate, might be worth while sending a monifold over for.

Baurluvva and Jozi.By all means ill mention it to him about making more but dont know how he will respond as he works full time so only gets evenings and w/ends.
Thought id post this pic of the cage he is building in his iS,not to FIA regs but the welding quality is awesome.

I love my manifolds
Very high quality job. Infact i'd go as far as saying that he is one of the most talented welders i have ever seen. And as im sure eko will agree - the stainless gives off a nice noise when the loud pedal is in use (edit, just read that you already said that
. Car made 203bhp still restricted, completly standard except the induction kit)

i did reply to you mate but other than the 2 i have done for zoners i wont be doing any more any time soon as the zone want me to pay traders fees for advertising that i can do them and im not paying it as im not a trader i was only trying to help a few zoners out with there swaps that dont have the skills or equipment to do it and thats why i was only taking £150 plus exchange mannys.booomer wrote:Hi guys, i know its been mentioned before but i really am now stuck.

i might start making them up again and selling them on ebay but for more than £150 as its a hard task with the standard rack theres just no room to play with.

Also intersted in this if it takes off....
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.
Come on then who doing these as a group buy? I'll send some M52 mani's for molestation!eko wrote:Quoted from Cooks build thread...

I want a single pipe system!

Groupbuy is impossible due the time he can put in as he works full time and obviously has a life to lead too.
He is up for making more though but only one set at a time.
Not sure how he would do the single pipe ones though as he uses a jig made to match them to a 325i twin system so to do single would need doing on the car I think.

Fair enough then, will have to mess about and make me own! Even if they are only used as a template for someone to make a better effort. I've got 3 sets of mani's to mess about with so hopefully by set 3 I might get close....
Cheers eko

If your interested in having a pair modified then send me a PM and ill sort it out with him.

I want mine to run into a single pipe and I think here lies a problem for your mate....
