Is your capslock stuck?

Your dampers could be shot if it bouncing over small bumps. BMW spings can be soft but not that soft.

As for the overheating issue, does it overheat in slow moving traffic or when its staionary. If so it could be the viscous coupling that operates the fan. It stiffens up as the engine temp rises. If it doesn't then the fan will not turn like it should.

If it does it at speed check the thermostat is operating as it should or that the rad is not blocked.

Sorry Emma, you need to get used to this fast. The majority of folk on here favour oem or at best oem+. Serious modding (read: council behaviour) is never well received. :snigger:

you can convert to p/steering but you'll need more than a pump.

glad another car is being saved, it may not be everyones cup of tea but it's better than it sat there rotting away being unloved. you can fit a power steering pump but you'll need a power steering rack also and the relevant piping plus the ps pump bracket which attaches to the block. it sounds alot but it's not as bad as you'd think, are you able to do this yourself? do you have facilities/tools/skills? if so we can help guide you through step by step if needed.
welcome to the forum by the way.

look at other builds on here etc in the photo gallery.these cars are good to upgrade.

try an add in the wanted section for a 4-pot retro fit p/s set up you'll need the steering uj with the rack.

don't worry about these hounds baying all the time it's just that we don't get many women on here & as soon as they see one their on it.

like imy says it's your car your choice what you do with it, if you get stuck just post up & someone will have the answer.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.
