Sorry I am being a bit lazy and can't be bothered searching the site, but can any one recommend a good quality compound to use in my new dual action polisher.
I have been using Autoglym products such as Resin Polish followed by High Definition wax. Results have been good but swirl marks from past are affecting the quality of my work. I want to machine polish car hopefully removing swirls and scratches, and then buff it up and then apply High Definition wax.
Any ideas ?

Try Menzerna, I bought a £25 sample kit of 4 x 250ml different cutting/polishing compounds and used it on a red car, took out every swirl/RDS/hologram.

My photos are in the photo section.

Try Elite car care or clean your car.

Poorboys SSR 2.5 or 3.0 will remove all marks :-) Elite care care do this I think. Recommend using claybar on the car first if you haven't done so already!

Meguiars 'Speed Glaze' with the Meguiars yellow foam mop will remove all swirls and holograms. It's not cheap- but in my experience, (6yrs valeting, and counting..) it's failsafe, especially with a da. Finish with your fave carnauba rich wax .(by hand !)
If it ain't broke..
Fix it till it is :)

+1 on the megs Speed Glaze - smashing stuff. The swirls WILL disappear. I then follow with Megs "hand polish" and then their NXT wax.

Does anyone sell pure bees wax?
my neighbour (old school pannel beater and sprayer of over 50 years) gave me a jar once and said it was pure bees wax. Lasted for ages and if applied over 3 times, twice applied with a damp cloth gave a finish like laquer.

Pure beeswax is a favourite for polishing furniture. I'd check out the nearest furniture store.

I've just bought a new machine polisher with some compounding heads.
Used with Farecla G3, the results have been superb. I've just done two cars with heavily oxidised paint (black Alfa GTV, and a red Astra), and the results were amazing.
The key to avoiding swirls is to use plenty of water. Both cars were swirl free.
After using a cutting compound, its important to seal the finish, as G3 and similar products leave the paint naked with no protection.
Use a fine polish like Mer afterwards, then go over with someting like caranuba wax.
its hard work, and you should set aside a good half day to do it, but the results will speak for themselves. 8)
