hi,now that my oil pressure prob is sorted i was wondering wether anyone could tell me why my mpg needle only moves when i start the engine,then stays on 0 after that??? and how do i fix it?? also my wiper blades when on intermittent stop halfway down the window,can i sort this or is it a normal e30 prob??(both e30s ive owned did it!) thanks alot

Had an E30 that did that with the MPG gauge once. Opened up the cluster and found a burnt resistor on the speedo board. Replaced this resistor, but unfortunately it made no difference. The car was sold shortly afterwards when I discovered 325s, so I never did solve this problem.
Best solution would be a fresh cluster from a breaker, swapping over the SI board, the coding plug and the speedo unit if you want or if neccesary.
Wiper problem is either the biggest relay in the fusebox, or a problem in the wiper gearbox, either hardened grease or a broken contact arm on the big gearwheel, or if your very lucky a poor connection in the wiper motor plug
Wiper motor removal involves taking off the left hand plastic vent on the scuttle beneath the windscreen, and the scuttle access plate, held on by four 7mm self tappers, at the back of the engine compartment.
