as you know i am restoring my c2 2.5 alpina im ready to paint the engine bay so i took the little black sticker with the colour code on down to my paint shop he went through all the books but could not find my colour (Sonderlackierung) then phon my local stealers with my chassis number he tells me its a special alpina paint he gave me alpinas number i talked to a nice guy called Gary Parks he told me the same thing and alpina would not release the paint code to anyone because it was their patent but he could sell me the paint at Ԛ£90 a ltr the only did 2 special colour a blue and a green mine the latter he did say that he thought the code might be obtainable from a pain supplier under special bmw paint code 54.

A decent paint shop should be able to mix up a good paint match for you if you take in a few bits off the car.
Should look gorgeous when finished.

OK it's Ԛ£90 / L from Alpina.

How much is a premium paint from else where?

I guess you'll only need 3 or 4 litres.... is it really worth trying to get it matched / made else where?

If you do need to save money, then paint the under bonnet with a matched paint, and just use the original paint on the outer panels.

P.s The Alpina Green is gorgeous!
