(rereading my last post, it looks like I'm saying your suggestion isn't a good one. It is, and it is appreciated. We just feel that this on its own is not enough.)
Noted Gorden.
But as this is not a "One off", I do feel the need that something has to change, surely?

Agreed, the question really is what else we need.

The problem is not only with people with no post count. No offence implied, but you could offer something for sale, and mess the buyer around - not that I'm suggesting you would - would you be a guaranteed person to deal with just because you don't have a post count of 3?

No, but as I have said before, a post count higher I.E. 100 wouldn't go amiss.
If people were advertising in there Sig, and buyers went down that route, then the Zone wuold not be hel to account?

Rav, this is being discussed, and the idea is a good one, we just don't feel it's enough on its own.

Ratch, this has been discussed at length too.
Who checks the info? How do we prove the info is correct?
You could send info in which is totally false, or we could hold info that is out of date.
We have your address, you move. How do we know unless you inform us of this?
Do we have to write to EVERY trader with a code number that they have to put into the forum to prove they got it? Who's going to send all the letters and pay for the postage, and check all the responses? And how often do we need to RESEND codes to prove the info we hold is still valid?

This undoubtedly makes the Zone look bad with the current proceedings, and we are looking seriously into what we can do to help. However, the Zone is only a forum at the end of the day, we get paid by people for the 'privilege' of being allowed to sell to a dedicated E30 audience.
We have no real background on these people, and - I hope - most, on the whole, do a good and honest service to you, our clients. Unfortunately a few seem to sign up, pay their traders fees to make them look more legitimate, and then proceed to let people down.

The moderating team will do what they can, but please understand, a "paid up trader" sign is not an indication that this person is honest, just that they've paid to sell on here.
Sorry, but this goes back to having X amount of posts(As other forums) to being able to sell on here.
I think the mods need to look into this seriously.
I know that I would be going down that route.
Keeps the scammers out!
don't take this the wrong way rav but just because some who doesn't have a post count of 100+ does not mean they are going to rip you off.

last year i got two bbs alloys off a total newbie on here & he was as honest & up front as you could ask for.

lets put it this way just because someone has a post count of 100+ does that mean they can be trusted? not allways as no matter what their post count if they want to rip spmeone off they will.

all we can do is wait for the team to come up with a way of making sure this type of thing does not happen again.

all we can do is wait.

also look at ebay, you could have someone on there with 100% positive feed back & they could STILL rip you off or you could have the polar opposite, someone who's just signed up & has zero feedback & be a very good seller on there who will not rip you off.

in a way you just have to take that chance.

Quote from E30sleeper...................

He did not send me anything but the \"fixing kit\".

PERIOD.

He canceled the ebay purchase of the Diff as I was trying to prevent others from the same fate as me. I bought a diff in Canada for $300 CDN, why would I send all that money for one from the UK.

HE is making excuses. I have no parts, I want no parts from him.

All I want is my refund for 650 pounds!

I don't want this post to get out of hand, but as I do have contact with alot of Mods, I can see it from your point of view too, but as an active menber, I would like to see this place turn back to it's origionation, i.e, 5/6 yrs ago where people on her were trustworthy.
We have a lot of newbies on here, an also a lot of bad views on other forums too.
Not good at all.
I think most sellers on here are "Old Skool" and are know to be so.

lets be totaly honest, all this talk of checking a sellers backgroung, sending in proof of ID (it's a forum FFS not a job application) et al in a way will never work.

case in point, newbie buy's e30 but runs out of funds & needs to sell it on quickly, so he/she signs up for a one month traders account to sell it, BUT they only have a post count of under 100 despite the fact they've been on here for a good few years, so do you trust them? even so the part/car they are selling is the one you've been searching for for ages? do you take that chance?

of coarse (sp?) you do.

it's only the same as buying out the paper, so would folk on here like to see things go back to the old exchange & mart days?

like i said earlier just wait & let the team decide whats best as they (should) know what they are doing.
