Removing Touring Interior Tailgate Trim

Any advice on how to remove the plastic interior trim from a Touring tailgate?

And also the black plastic trim which runs above the lights and down across the boot latch. I know the middle of the plastic rivet things should push up but how do you get underneath them?

Plastic trim on the tailgate should pop out if you ease it out, it is held on by plastic clips similar to those on the door cards.

Trim on the boot threshold is held on by push type clips, the best way I found to remove them was by punching the plastic centre through with a flat ended piece of metal or a screw driver. Trouble is they are hard to find again.

Cheers for that. So the centres will push down through the rivet things. Will try that with a centre punch or similar.

The large piece of trim(part 1 in diagram below) has 2 small screws holding it on.

The rest just pops off.

Cheers for the advice. Mine didn't have the 2 screws in the large bit. Think i read somewhere it's only the later Tourings which had them.

Managed to get all the trim off except the pieces on the side of the tailgate where the gas struts attach. How do the 4 expanding rivet things come off. Little caps came off easy enough but there's still no movement in the trim piece.

Are they the small rectangle shaped plastic rivets?

Be carefull ive snapped mine, they just have a little cover then flat head screwdriver to prise theem out.

So basically i'm just half way there then! If it ever stops pi$$ing it down i might go and have another try.
