Hello All,
I am thinking (only thinking) of swapping out my 318i lump for a 320i , whats needed ? is there a definitive list or how to on the web somewhere?. I am not sure what is needed apart from the engine and loom,i was thinking of buying a wreck for the engine and bits i need.

Don't do it. Do a 325 swap or better still M50B25.

320i is slow and a waste of time

:D
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Unless you have a specific reason for using a 320i lump, like race regs or something, don't bother with it. You will use 325i levels of fuel and go no faster than your 318i is now.

Fit a 2.5 and be done with it. For either engine swap, you will need engine, loom, ecu, radiator, gearbox, prop and diff. Unless yours is a touring or cab, you should also swap the front suspension because the heavier engine with 4pot suspension is not great, I can tell you.

Food for thought there alright,
I wouldnt have thought there was not much difference in the 2.0 fuel consumption compared to the 2.5 lump.

Book figures state the 320i is a little worse on fuel compared to the 325i. I doubt there is really that much in it, but if I was paying for the fuel a 6pot drinks, I know which 6pot I'd have.
