I think she does by now, I've told her enough times! :chuckle:

It should go in easy enough, I'm just not sure when I'm going to get round to it with the house move and all :(

I'll keep you in mind about those chips :D

you were going to use an m40 box werent you? I used one of them with my non vanos m50 and a 3.64lsd before changing to an m52 engine and gearbox - needs a 320i prop iirc becuase the 325i prop is slightly too long / short (i forgets)

I thought about using the E34 box as it feels pretty good, but then I'd need a new diff. I've got an M40 box and my 3.91 slipper, so it would make sense to use those and just get a prop. And selling the E34 box will pay for some of the car.

Just need the E36 engine mounts, E28 rubber mounts and a leccy fan to get it done.

If you have a diff then choose the box around that IMO

i should have my e36 engine mounts off my NV here somewhere

Have you got a prop to match the e34 box? the m40 box route is certainly cheaper than buying a suitable ratio diff to match the e34 box. Unless the gearbox is one of the overdrive gearboxs?

That's what I'm thinking, so M40 box it is - I sold the Z3M diff with the S50.

I'm gunna check what box the E34 has when I get my PC unpacked. I guess it could be an overdrive box.
Those engine mounts sound interesting.....

Very doubtful its an overdrive box, most likely to be a ZF 1:1 5th

Yeah I'm expecting to find a ZF box. Either way, I've got options.

Aww, man! Heart-breaker!

I agree that you should build around the diff you have. The ZF box is probably stronger but whats the worst that could happen to an M40 gearbox? It blows up. Oh well, there's 20 quid down the drain, off to the breakers for another one! A decent diff is loads of money and hard to find in the right ratio for the ZF box (mine is from a ZM).

Such a shame to take a step back from an S50, but to be fair the M50 will give you 80% for 20% of the cost! You can always sneak a budget turbo setup under the radar later on, but you've already thought of that haven't you? :D

My S50 is coming off the road too soon.. The engine is awesome, but the body work needs the show to go with the go!

Yup, it was definitely a hard decision to sell - Id not even advertised it because I wasnt sure I wanted it to go. I was having second thoughts right up to the day it went :(

Yeah, Ive decided its getting my 3.91 lsd and M40 box, really just to make it easier and cheaper, as Ive got the bits sat here.
The diff for the S50 conversion was from a ZM as well, I would of kept it as it came from a 40k mile car, but I said Id sell the whole conversion kit to make it easier for the buyer......
