Cannot see Mark having much call for nail varnish remover,at least,in the quantities required for a car bonnet!
Thinners may work,though...
Thinners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just use white spirit. it'll melt the glue and won't eat any plastic parts if you splash it (like tops of the grilles, water bottles etc.)
I used it on mine and it's a messy job but worth it.

This guy is the boss in his home!
I would not dare....
Sorry, can't take the credit here - she left me ages ago. Said something about using her hair straighteners to glue car parts together on the way out iirc.....
She did leave that very useful plastic scraper behind though, so it's all good!

Do you use the dishwasher as a parts cleaner as well?

just scrape off the old foam (carefully with a metal scraper or a good plastic one) till your left with the sticky glue, then use a stiff brush (and an air hose if you have one) to carefully clean away all the loose material....then just stick the new stuff on top........20 min job MAX!
don't faf about with removing the glue, who's gonna check. this is how i did mine a few months ago and i'm still alive, and i reckon it will be there long after i'm gone! the oem stuff sticks like heck and will not "fall off". the fact that the glue left is STICKY means the STICKY back will STICK to it.....
if you remove the glue, you can satisfy yourself that it is perfect (and give yourself a nice pat on the back after spending the whole day high on fumes and covered in crap) but life's too short buddy!!! and removing the bonnet.. dont bother.

I wouldnt be using anything metal unless you dont mind having lumps of paint missing, but I agree with the 'f*ck getting the glue off' bit

the heat won't crack the paint. i have removed all the glue and left it bare paint.
i found gunk engine cleaner takes the glue off pretty good. just don't rub too hard or will take the paint off too.
