thats the old clutch that came out of it! the pedal only goes down halfway with the new clutch and goes hard..

i looked on my i.S today and the part where the clutch master cylinder meets the clutch pedal is perfectly straight where on the frankenstein its bent which in turn bent the pushrod for the master cylinder.. maybe that has something to do with it also?

Hi If it's an e28 box there will be two holes in the side of the bell housing were the crank sensors fited, and when you changed the clutch was there a single pin sticking out of the flywheel at the edge.

didnt ask him that to be honest Rav..Paz had good things to say about how quick the car was tho so it must have been running at some point..probably not very well judging by how badly the clutch bearing and plate was damaged tho

**EDIT** ok just put it in and nothing was found

This is what was on the side of the box:

260.0.1302.92

ok so i joined up to "MyE28" to see if anyone could give me some insight into this gearbox i have and what clutch to use and one member wrote this back:

It appears to be a Getrag 260/6, which is the normal gearbox for an M30B35. I suspect that someone has either installed the incorrect release bearing or the whole release bearing has simply come apart. You should be able to use a standard E34 535i clutch kit with no issues. I just noticed the rubbing from the release for. Make sure that the pivot stud is in good shape (passenger side of the bell housing.) The rubbing could have just happened from the bearing coming apart

hmm now im thinking maybe my slave cylinder needs replacement

**EDIT** he also wrote this back

The problem could be related to the flywheel. I know that the flywheel thickness changes on the eta to accommodate the change from single to dual mass, but I am unsure if this is the case with the M30 since it has never come up with any of my cars. That is definitely an E34 gearbox, as it does not have holes drilled for bell housing sensors.

Now that you have shown the other clutch, I can see what might be the issue. Once, my old boss installed a 325i single mass flywheel and clutch in a 325e that came with a dual mass. He had the same issue with the clutch not disengaging and the pedal stopping before the floor. Turns out the whole assembly was thinner overall and the slave could not move far enough to disengage it. We had to lengthen the slave pushrod (the cop-out fix) to make it work. The best way would be to install a thicker release bearing, but I'm not sure which one you would need. I will check into it later when I have time unless someone else solves your problem first

I still think the problem is fitting a dualmass clutch to a single mass fly

If you find a manual gearbox ill take this Frankenstien one off you

Just a thought, what prop do you have? 325i prop is 1483mm

You might need a 325i linkage too

not sure tbh but it mated up to the frankenstein box fine and the rubber "quibo" ( i think its called that) looks about the same..

the rear part of the prop has "328 manual" on it :?

Is there a part number on it?

If the frankenstien box is longer than the E34 box the prop wont fit

Then again if its an E36 328i manual prop it should be the correct length (give or take a few mm) and you get to keep the large guibo too 8)
