Reverse light switch.

As i`m using an auto loom on my M50 what do i do about the reverse light switch on the M40 box?
Do i just connect the E30 wire for this or is there something else that i need to do to it?
Cant just try it on this car as it`s a scraper and the rear light loom has been cut off.(it`s all being swapped over to my daily car when it`s all set up and running)

Youre using the M50 and M40 box?

Im pretty sure you use the reverse light wiring from the E30 . Any reverse light wring on the M50 loom isnt needed AFAIK - thats how it was with my S50 conversion anyway.

You only need to change the plug if you are using a non-E30 gearbox.


So you are using an E30 M40 gearbox? Im interested to know what flywheel/clutch and propshaft you have used

Wasn`t so much as the plug i wanted to know it was if the E30 one was just a case of connecting it up and bobs your uncle or i had to do a bit of rewiring.
Sounds like it`s just plug and play then.

Yes E30 M40 box.
M20 flywheel with roughly 4.5mm taken off to clear the sump,M20 clutch and a prop from a 320.Tried a 325 one and the front section was too short and the centre bearing didn`t line up with mounting holes.

A bit more confidence and a hole heap of money,i`d like to do something like danthe has done with a M50.
Then i could(try) p*** on all these "gangsters" round here running around in 330 cab`s

The S50 was perfect for that - nobody understood how an old BM could move so fast
