hi all, i know the benefits of an e36 rak and also a z3 1.9 rack as i've had/have both, i'm wondering if e46 racks are any different/better etc or if it's even possible to fit one? any body done anything with them?
cheers

E46 E36 racks

If going for a E46 rack you want the 330i clubsport one.
This gives 3 turns lock to lock and a nicely weighted feel.
Bolts up quite easy with some spacers on the subframe.
Usually needs a cooler added in the PAS pipe to stop the fluid boiling.
Main advantage is that an E46 one will be newer than an E36 one.
Cheers

The clubsport rack is the fastest available stock rack, other than the new V8 M3 which is 2.4 turns but I don't know anyone that's fitted one?
Search for the part numbers cross referenced with my name. If you don't get the exact match and get a normal E46 rack, the steering will be 1 finger dry steering light!

Can anyone suggest how to test if the boot lights are staying on with the boot shut?

7852 974 679 is the e46 sport rack part number i think its the only one that the part number plate is purple . i did have a standard e46 rack and it was very light in my car , but i have fitted a standard e46 one for B15NAC and the steering in his e30 feels much more weighted .
