Chaps just a couple of things
1. how the bugger do i get the inspection light to stop illuminating on my dash. my beemer has done 123k so i think its well past that ' inspection stage'
2. Ive rang motoraids today and asked about a relay switch for the front foglights that i will be fitting. the guy asked for the voltage output indicated by the pins on the relay. can anyone tell me what they are and how many pins there is - just to make sure im sold the right one.

answer to 1 buy the tool to reset the lights about Ԛ£12 from gsf or search for the link on here (shows how to short it with a peice of wire) i feel safer with the first approach though
2,relay is about Ԛ£6 from gsf as well and not much more from the dealers at least you know its the right one

As long as you correctly identify pin 7 of the diagnostic connector, you can't do any harm resetting the service lights with a piece of wire.
If they won't reset or give non valid combinations of lights, then the batteries on the SI board are probably failing.
Foglight relay is a little bit special, as it contains a diode in series with the coil.
