You will require a re-set tool to put the light out.
I bought one via E-bay some years back for about £12.
You can use a bit of wire to the correct pins in the diagnostic socket, but I struggle to read the pin numbers there and cannot remember which one's anyway!
A hunt through the wiki, link at the top of page, may just give you an answer.

if you look in the diagnostic socket inside the engine you need to locate pin 7 pin numbers are next to thier respecive pins, but very small assuming you have the later engine, older engine the pins are identifie inside the red cap.

ignition off then ground pin 7 then turn ignition on and wait about 5-7 seconds and the lights shoudl reset to green. to reset the orange oil inspection light turn ignition off and back onn for 5-7 secs and this light will extinguish. remove the ground and job done. If the lights do not reset you have the wrong pin or the service batteries are flat

Pin 7 is extremely easy to find - it's the one on the outside right in the middle of pacman's mouth.
Earth it on a body earth (e.g. rear bonnet bracket), so that you don't have to bother identifying the earth pin in the socket as well.
