DECIDED TO CHANGE MY MINTA 1990 MOTORSPORT KITTED TOURER TO A MANUAL AS THE ENGINE HAD SMASHED PISTON/VALVES /HEAD.
AND AS I HAD A MANUAL TOURER AS SPARES DECIDED TO HAVE THE MANUAL FOR THE SHERE FUN FACTOR,SO DROPPED ENGINE AND BOX /REPLACED WITH MANUAL BOX AND ENGINE COMPLETE,CHANGED PEDALS OVER AND FITTED CLUTCH , THE ONLY THING THAT WAS DIFFERANT WAS THE ATTACHMENT TO THE AIR INLET MANIFOLD AT THE SENSOR TO THE BUTTERFLY HOUSING ?WHICH ON AUTOS IS A ROUND PLUG ,WHERE AS ON THE MANUAL IS A 3 SPADED CONNECTION! SO CHANGED THOSE OVER ,AND FOR SOME APPARENT REASON THE CAR WONT START THE STARTER ,WHICH MAY BE DOWN TO THE INHIBITOR ,ALLOWING THE CAR TO THINK THAT ITS NOT IN PARK/NEUTRAL! EVEN CHANGED THE STARTER FOR ANOTHER ,BUT I HAVE NO EXPERIANCE WITH ELECTRICS AND MULTIMETRES AND NOW FOR THE WORST I HAVE DONE EXACTLY THE SAME WITH MY 535 AUTO FOR MANUAL AS IS MINT CLASSIC 8GRAND SPRAY M5 REPLICA,LOWERED 17S,COOL,AND HERE I AM WITH EXACTLY THE SAME SITUATION WHERE THE CAR ON KEY WONT TURN THE STARTER ,ANYONE ADVICE WILL BE GREATLY APPREIATED,THX FOR YOUR TIME READING ,JONATHAN ,

No experience of this, but have you tried unplugging the auto-box ECU?
I believe it's in the boot, n/s behind the trim...
