I've just got off the phone to eko and the gearbox is coming back out ... again. Rather than risk fooking up another slave cylinder and possibly wasting twice the amount of time on sorting it out we're going to weld tabs to the release bearing.
Can anybody confirm the size that the tabs have to be to weld to the m20 325i sachs release bearing? I'll be keeping the 22mm slave cylinder in too.

All fixed
eko started taking the gearbox out yesterday afternoon, and the whole job was done by around 8:30
Its 100 thousand-million times better now, you can tell straight away just by popping it into gear. Its nice and smooth again like it was. I took it on a nice little run through the backroads and i can report that the iS springs and rear subframe bush void fillers have made it handle ALOT better than it did with the touring springs!

I'm so glad its sorted, i've lost heart with it so much i actually wrote a for sale advert - being messed about with the billies + springs basically made the desision for me. I've had an ace drive in it this morning though!

I've got the m52 gearbox (328i/m3 'box), standard m20 flywheel, e30 325i sachs clutch kit, z3m/m3 22.64mm slave cylinder
One thing probably worth saying to anybody doing a b28 is never to use an LUK clutch with it! It was fine with the m50 + m40 box but not with the new setup

A total of approximately 5.5mm to incorportate the different stroke of the slave cylinder. Manifold will be done at somepoint. I think eko's a tad sick of the sight of my car atm so i think i'll leave him be for a bit! One of the wheel bearings is having a grumble and i need to get the vanos seals and chain tensioners done.

it jumped out on me
considering the angle of descent off the speedbump i thought i caught my splitter. Looked under the car and i saw i had just lightly scraped the fins

in that situation, a rear-ending would seem appropriate!e301988325i wrote:my old man rear ended someone when a girl bent over in a miniskirt with no knickers on

Turns out royal mail havent lost my spoiler, only my battery for my camera... which almost cost me the same as the spoiler. Instead of delivering it to the Depot half a mile away (like it says on the card) they've delivered it to the one 27 miles away!
Either way i twatted the exhaust mid section on the speedbump coming out of college today
THATS how bad the speedbump is, i can't afford another 20mm drop! I've avoided leaving college via the speedbump but the pikeys have moved into the carpark by the exit with the tiny speedbumps so i had no choice

Bit of an update
As well as my map light mirror that turned up the other week, i have taken delivery of my tech 1 rear spoiler and a set of bilstein dampers
E30gazza gave me a ring yeterday telling me about a brilliant red baur which is very straight, down the local scrapyard - another scrappage scheme victim! Went down with the cash and came home with a bonnet, front valance and drivers side wing
The bonnet is dead straight, although it has the odd scratch which doesnt worry me. It was abit of a gamble because the bonnet was thick with dust - I mean THICK. But it looked straight and the old one had a nasty irrepairable dent so i quickly changed the bonnets over down the scrapyard. It gets even better... the new bonnet has heated wash jets
just need to find the wiring in the car
The front valance is unbent and immaculate - literally about 4 stone chips, and its the same story about the drivers wing! Near mint!
One of the guys working at the scrap yard is doing an m30 conversion and he wanted the valance i bought. So i've sold him the immaculate black one i've got (his car is black) so needless to say i haven't spent much at all!
I've also got £70 worth of car cleaning stuff winging its way to me for a summer epic bufty session.
Not the best photo of the valance but here it is

Check out the reflection on this! so much straighter than the old one!

I took a photo just before putting the new bonnet on - i think it looks brilliant without one on!

Nicely done on the panels mate
I was at another local breakers a couple of days ago and spotted what at first I thought was an E30 roofline in the back of the workshop.
Made my way over and it turned out to be a really tidy E34 525i sport on a G plate.
Apparently its done fairly low mileage and engine is supposedly a minter although no battery so couldnt try it.
Loads of goodies on it....tec 2 wheel,Sport bumpers with the extra bib parts,Sport cloth interior which looked tidy, nice looking BBS`s but think they may be the crappy metric ones.
Probably LSD`ed too as I think they were standard on these models too?
Tryed blagging the tec 2 wheel but said they wanted to sell the car whole.
Tempted to buy the thing and strip it as its mega cheap but not sure I can even be arsed to be honest!
Dad need any parts??

He needs a calypso red passanger side front wing. Although the car sounds like it could be a replacement for him anyway if its the right price!

This was a manky E34 540.
The gearbox is worth good money from that Touring.

Cheers bud. I do think about whether i should of kept my white iS and done it to that - but the new owner has kept it in epic condition and done some really nice bits to it so im not too concerned anymore. Plus this has pretty much had a full rebuild considering the amount i've replaced on it.
One thing i forgot to mention is that my old LUK clutch is on the way back to LUK for "inspection", and hopefully they'll be giving me a new clutch (they wont give a refund but atleast i can sell a brand spanking new clutch!).

On sunday im on a stand at the devon car show, so booked some time off work and pulled my finger out a little bit.
Anybody else thing it looks like its smiling?

All nailed back together, with a brand spankers oil cooler grille

I gave it a quick wash and even washed the wheels

And a tech 1 spoiler!

This is for all you bufty's out there

Plan for tommorow:
get 2 new front tyres fitted becuase they've seen better days,
Wash again with dodo juice shampoo (best stuff i've used yet)
Use various grades of mezerna cutting compound,
Use collinite wax,
Apply UV protector,
Back to black,
Fit new bonnet and boot badge
