Hi All,
I have a quick question should the E30 Convertible have a strut etc to hold up the back part that you lift to put the hood up and down like the bonnet stand etc its just when putting the hood up or down you have to use your shoulder to hold this part up and try and pull the hood out or push the hood back in ???

There are 2 little gas cylinder struts. One on either side. They will hold the hood compartment lid up. From memory, I think thay were approx Ԛ£25 eich from the BMW $Ԛ£tealer

No, that's for the bonnet dude.
I had some on mine, but they were shot. Ended up holding it up by your shoulder, like you said... Grrrrr! I think most of them are like this...

Doubt you will find a second hand set... might as well get it over and done with and get a new pair. At least you'll know that they will last for a while...

The trouble is - they don't last for a while!! The horseshoe is just too heavy for the size of strut used. I'd save your money, cos you're going to end up using your shoulder again soon....

ive used two gas struts from a e30 seat (the ones that goes between the seat back and base) works supurb and a little more beefy than the originals.
