According to BMW the Coil pack required for the M42 COP conversion (12 13 1 748 017) has been superseded to 12 13 1 712 219.
Looking at the diagram (and on the info from my local BMW parts department) this coil has a different fitting and not the mounting holes required to mount onto the COP plate:

Ignoring for a minute that the coils are £40-£50 each new , if the 748 017 coils are no longer available from BMW what coils can I use for the conversion and where do I find them?
I've read in some threads that the coils for the conversion are for an M52 engine, yet the epc shows 748 017 as being for the M/S62 engine. Is this a mistake or can the M52 ones (1 703 825) be used? From the diagram they look to have 4 mounting holes and are also showing as discontinued:

Can anyone shed any light on this for me?
Also, how do you do the wee "clicky" thing for long urls?
TIA

Good, thanks for clearing that up. I didn't much like the idea of buying new ones anyway. I'll ask the wanted section...

Don't pay more than £10 per coil absolute tops.

I've got it sorted already. Rich, your price advice was spot on coincidentally.
Did you get my PM from the other day re' the COP plate?
