Piece of cake if you pay someone else to do it.

Adam - it aint hard.. might b worth a pop. the lumps can be had from Ԛ£200...

you'll need a smaller servo, a 525 engine (more likely to have been looked after and has the right sump) e28 m5 engine mounts and then your away..

Does the gearbox from the E30 325 Sport fit?
The wiring would be the worst bit for me, trying to get the ECU and looms etc working properly.

I won't profess to be any expert on this swap but I was lead to believe it is more hassle than doing a 3.5 M30 conversion?

Don't know what the actual hassles are though but when this conversion is mentioned there is usually a lot of breath being sucked through teeth, bit like asking a plumber for an accurate estimate

But I will bow to the superior knowledge of zoners who have done the conversion, isn't there a thread called M50 Developments somewhere?

sport box will fit yes..

the engine will rotate it 10 degrees but you can use a 7 series g/box mount to mount it apparently

wiring isnt difficult only a few to connect

All the wiring connections except for battery + and earth are made via the c101 bulkhead mounting plug and socket.
I've posted the correct connections for a 525 M50 to a E30 C101 a few times.
Best to keep the gearbox that comes with the M50, and find a diff of 3.15 or so.
The only problems with this conversion are keeping the exhaust plumbing clear of the steering, and the inlet manifold clear of the brake servo.
There are several different solutions for each.
