Why E34 sump, if it's an M30 it should have the same sump as the E34?
M20 temp switch, Yes

Rav, it will have the deeper sump also fitted to the e28.

It also has the coolant pipe on the back of the head that will require the e32/34 blanking plate.

There are lots of different radiators used, e30 325i, e24 635i, e28 m353i, e34 535i are some that have been used as far as I know.

I'm using an M10 throttle cable

M20 temp sensor for the gauge is required.

dependant on which gearbox you go for depends on what prop you need. I'm using M10 gearbox with a prefacelift 325 prop.

Hope this helps

John, was yours an early engine?

iirc earlier pre cat engines had more poke 8)

No mine is from an 1987 e32, I did have an early e28 lump buts it was a bit ropey.

Dude Jon is right, my cock up, it will be running the old M30, not the later one.
Lee ,the mounts are different, looking at E30.de.

Looks like the inlet ones the same but the exhaust side bolts in the middle of the block

if the inlet is the same i could supply you with just that side, then fit it and lift the engine level (sump & crossmember) then get the exhaust side made up DIY

179 euro's, and is that plus post?

Up to you really, to make the other mount you can use wood to make a pattern then take it to a machine shop to get it made out of steel ,maybe cost you £50

just done some research on e30.de and wiki regarding my 1984 635 csi motor and i read some engines with a cat ,had a 8.1 compression ratio and only made 185 hp a 33bhp loss but the pre cat cars still ran with a higher compression and the usual 220ish hp
wiki says these lesser power cars were USA models
how do i determine if i just bought a crap 185hp m30 :x

If you have a 1984 m30, it will be the early type making good Hp if its not totally shagged :D

I think my E28 had the distributor mounted on the side of the engine block, newer versions of the m30 had the distributor (cap) mounted at the front of the head.

Early 635 based on a e12 had that engine how much did you pay as I need a few bits of one of one of those do you have the rest of the car

a better option would be to get a e34m30 and sell tahr engine, that ones runs ljet so the wiring is not as easy and you need a e28/24 manual box to take the flywheel sensors for the Ecu
