I've been looking at some components and what RMS power should I be looking at?

Imy, it's about the quality of the sound you want, imo those MB quarts although a 35w RMS, will no doubt sound better than your Vibe 170RMS speakers.
I would be going with the MB's but a slightly higher RMS.
What you don't want is cnnecting these to a larger output amp and cooking the speakers.

How'd you work than one out Rav?

What amp are you going to be running these off, what's the RMS rating on that?

It's not all about the how much a speaker can kick out, it's the way the speaker delivers the sound.ImysE30 wrote:How'd you work than one out Rav?![]()

But if you want loud then max W is the way to go .

The Vibe's deliver the sound pretty well as they are amped correctlyRav335uk wrote:It's not all about the how much a speaker can kick out, it's the way the speaker delivers the sound.ImysE30 wrote:How'd you work than one out Rav?![]()

I obviously like loud so more RMS the better
Blitz - First thing i'd think about it is how are you going to be powering them, headunit or amp? Then go for a RMS rating.

Then you want to be getting something that will run over 50watts rms, so no harm can be done to the speakers on full whack.
These.

The higher the RMS the more "power" they can have going into them
its all well and good having high RMS speakers put if you only have 35w rms going into them its pointless
if your going used get a set of infinity 5010cs (think thats the name) that what ive got. you might still get new ones on ebay, think there discontinued now

Speakers do not make power, they use power , a speaker power rating is it's thermanl handling ability , saying this if you feed clean power to a speaker, you can double and sometimes triple the rating on it.
Heat kills speakers, heat is made from DC current in the signal , AKA Clipping
