In late March I replied to a post in the for sale section of the forum.
The member " stevetaylor" had a M-Tech II kit for sale. After some emails back and forth about shipping and price we agreed to 650 pounds.
Its been OVER 2 months and the only thing he shipped was a zip lock bag with some random nuts and screws.
He has not responded to any of my emails in the last few weeks.
PLEASE BEWARE!!
Thanks,

Here is the latest message from him admitting he sent the kit somewhere else.
STILL NO REFUND!
STILL NO REFUND!

I sell loads of BMW parts and ship all over without a problem...I left this for someone else to sort out which is no excuse but now ive looked into it I think you have received some bodykit fixing clips instead of the kit and the kit has ended up in Switzerland...can you just post the clips back and I will do a refund through paypal...sorry again for the up...cheers
not handy.. where about are you? £650 for an m tech 2 kit is strong money but to be ripped of in the process is even worse
after reading that... he should refund you and pay you to send the clips back...E30Sleeper wrote:Here is the latest message from him admitting he sent the kit somewhere else.

I live in Canada so I knew shipping might be pricey.
650 pounds = over $1,000 Canadian dollars!
Does this kind of thing happen on here often?

for shipping to Canada now I see where the price has came from.. thankfully this doesn't happen very often

That's exactly what I suggested, but ever since he has ignored all my messages.jbh wrote:after reading that... he should refund you and pay you to send the clips back...E30Sleeper wrote:Here is the latest message from him admitting he sent the kit somewhere else.

I've contacted the local police about it. They consider it internet fraud, but are bogged down at the moment.
Any suggestions?

I fear the reason you got a packet of bolts is so he has a signature against a consignment that he has sent to you. This means if you open a Paypal dispute he could say "I believe the other party has received the item, he is a signature from him for a package I sent"
I'm sorry to hear this has happened.

was thinking this my self.. the amount of times ive heard about ppl being sent empty boxes is unbelievable...d6dph wrote:I fear the reason you got a packet of bolts is so he has a signature against a consignment that he has sent to you. He claims to have sold tons of parts on this forum.
Has anyone ever dealt with him before?

Dave - he is a paid up trader on the zone - any checks done for traders plus he posted a few days ago looking to buy a 2.7 from someone - surely this can be looked into more £650 is sore by anybodys standards

Sadly the traders packages can be purchased and the tag added automatically so no checks are done. Limited things can be checked anyway.
I'm sorry but the team can offer little help on this sort of thing.

Should the guy still be allowed to post? What's to stop him ripping someone else off? I don't think I'd be happy if I got ripped off after mods allowed him to continue to sell after this?

Hold on a second, Don't think I'm not taking this seriously and please do not insinuate the team are responsible for this persons actions!
I'm just looking at the control panel to see if I can limit his access to this section only and remove the PM facility.

don't go blaming the team.. I'm sure they'll do what they can to stop him trading but it doesn't stop ppl buying from him.. only the members can do this. that's why theres a feedback thread.johnt0709 wrote:Should the guy still be allowed to post? Dave sorry read my post again don't see where I insinuated the team were liable?? Just saying that after it has been drawn to your attention if he was allowed to sell then their could be an element of moral liability. Your obviously on top of it limiting his pms.
Apologies for any confusion......

I'd have returned the clips as requested, hoping that it was an honest mistake...they do happen.jbh wrote:would you have? id be asking for my money first!!sihooker wrote:Have you posted the clips back to him?E30Sleeper wrote:Here is the latest message from him admitting he sent the kit somewhere else.

After a week, i would then have started a dispute with paypal.
In my eyes if it was me that made the mistake id be refunding the boy first.. he is £650 out of pocket.. and a bag of clips arrives on his door step.. If he was genuine he'd refund him asap not once hes sent the bag of clips back..I'd also pay for the clips to be sent back to me.. but then that's me

Not you personaly Dave but another long standing mod.
Steve Taylor is Tony Doe and did the same to another overseas Zoner a year or two ago with an Mtech2 kiti think to Croatia.
Took the money and never sent it

I did not return the collection of odd screws and bolts to him. I asked him for the refund first.

I see your point, and as a seller i'd do the same thing...but when someone else has your £650, there's no point in aggravating the situation.jbh wrote:In my eyes if it was me that made the mistake id be refunding the boy first.. he is £650 out of pocket.. and a bag of clips arrives on his door step.. Some people get the hump if you insinuate that they're not playing straight, then they can become very awkward.
Remember, we've only heard one side of this story so far, and although i'm not saying that it's an unfair account, i couldn't say that it is either.
Edit: However, after reading the last few posts, it doesn't look good

I knew from day one it was him and did mention it but nothing was done about it.
It was just a matter of time before it happened again!
