Please explain.......
8 gauge is more then fine for the apline aplifiers you have, I would not see them draw more then 40 -50A on spikes which last less then a second. Music is dynamic so you not drawing peak current at all times, the thing about power cable is its all based on distance, the further away the amp is the more sense it makes to run a larger gauge cable. Where you are using a Distro block in the rear you can then go down 1 or 2 sizes to the amps as the current draw and distance is shorter.

the apline aplifiers you have
i'll have to look them up - i've not heard of them before!
should have put this earlier - 8 gauge was used as it was already there and budget constrictions were in force!
i saw a doctor and she gave me some pills....

Oops , should have been Alpine Amplifiers. Like I said , nothing wrong with 8 gauge at all.

to be correct bigger cable does have less resistance due to greater cross sectional area(assuming conductor material is same) but a bigger cable does not give more current, it just can accept more current without getting hot.
The current is dictated by what the amp demands and is limited by the supply available
the main advantage to bigger cable is the voltage drop is less, so more volts seen by the amp will allow it to amplify more.you guys with electrical backgrounds should know this!!!

All I can say as a layman to the ICE side of life is that the sounds are absolutely superb and this is only phase 1
The build is only constrained by my budget and certainly not by Placey's (Paul) ability.
More work to come which I am sure Paul will post up as and when it occurs.
What a guru !
