right i hthink this is in the right section.

ok then i've got the chance to buy back my old tech1 sport (m20b25) off a mate of mine now what i'mthinking of doing is having a go at the spec of the engine along the lines of ported/gasflowed head with 3 angle valve seats 270+ dg cam, bbtb, 6 branch manifold, vernier (sp?) pulley to get the cam timing spot on, induction kit with cold air feed, lighten flywheel & as the title a aftermarket ecu to control it all.

i know the engine is in good health at 140k as i serviced it all the time i had it & when the new owner had it.

but what i want to know is which ecu to go for (ie; price reliability, ease of use etc) to run the show.

so can anybody help me out here??

try to keep it simple for a (aftermarket ecu) newbie like me.

also any links would be a big help.

TIA.

If your are a newb, then you should be looking close to where you live and see what the tuners are use to.

If you plan on tackling this yourself then that is another matter.
Then it really doesn´t matter either as it´s all going to be just as hard to learn.

for your engine I´d reccomend alpha-n maybe with baro correction.

yes i'm a nood at this type of thing but if you don't ask & try you don't learn.

as for local "tuners" the only place i can thing of near me is corten miller over in friskney who are a superchips dealer with a dyno (so i'm sure i could get it all mapped there) but i don't know if they deal with this type of thing :?

Alpha N? tell me more please if you can?

like i said cost is also a factor in it, now i know that ant at A-tech is doing a twim map for the motronic 1.3 so could this be a possible path to take?

like i said in my OP i'm looking for as much advise as i can get.

I don´t know anybody there that could help.

Alpha-N means angle of the throttle is load, N is the engine rpm ,
Those are the fuel and ignition table Axis.

talk to the tuner there and ask them what they can fit and tune and will not be a pain to live with.

I don't live to far from Lincoln an could only find Dave walker who does the emerald ech's but thanks a good drive away. However I k ow aces people who have used him locally and have all been very pleased with the work he did for them.

When I bought my emerald evidence the main thing I wanted was someone to go down to and say can you fix this I've done X, or I've had ago at mapping it myself and it hasn't worked well can you sort it for me. Something that at the time wasn't realy available with using a mega squirt ecu that was around the same price at the time.

appletree thanks for that :thumb:

i know what you mean about dave walker as 2 years ago i used to work with a bloke who ran his 440bhp saph cossie with one of dave's ecu's & he swore by it.

i've had a look on the emerald site & it look's pretty comprehensive.

so that's two routes to follow up on.

Given the spec proposed, a simple motronic remap is all that's required.

Superchips, no, not recommended simply because they will not have an off the shelf file to suit, dead money I fear there.

Standalone is always nice, but not always the only way to go.

M1.1 on that car, no more than 6.4K rev limiter whatever you decide please :D
