Hi - new to the site and need help.
I've an '89 316i and got it back on the road after a 2 year break last month. Passed the NCT (MOT equivalent in Ireland) last week but is now running real rough. My mechanic messed with the setting on the airflow meter and can't figure out which way he turned it.
It's now running rough, consuming way too much petrol and back-firing. Need advice on how to adjust the airflow meter - clockwise or anti?
Any other advice appreciated
Thanks

clockwise I believe is richer - but there are better experts than me around so wait for confirmation from others

Its a bypass screw so turning it anti-clockwise will let more air in that the ECU doesn't know about which will Lean the mix
I would do it with the car on the gas tester though so you can set it to spec (anything under 3.5% CO for the UK MOT)
