I`m ready to make the wire loom for the fan.
I`m using a 80c thermostat, not sure what temp switch to use for the side of rad.
I`ve got these

Image
The one the left is from an E36 323 and says 91/99
The one on the right is an E30 and says 130
I`m assuming these are both too high? If so which one do i get and from which model car?

Not actualy got a fan yet but want to get it all ready, bar the connector until i know which one to use..

Can some one give me a dunce`s guide to making and wirring the
loom into the fuse box and any relays that might be needed to work twin speed if poss,.

Thanks

The rad temp switch that I use is from a E36 318. The temp is 80/88. PN 61 31 8 376 440.

I use E30 aux fan wiring diagram for this.

Unfortunatly i dont understand how to read them, hence the dunce request  :o:
Managed to find locations for two fuses 3&18 and two relays k1& k6 but dont know what goes where.

Do you have to use certain type of spade connectors for the fuses as these sort dont seem to fit in the gap in the fuse box.

If you get the fan sorted, post up what you used and how you did it. I'll be doing this to my M50 soon.

Cheers

You can buy premade ones from DanThe if you are interested in going down that route.

I wouldnt bother with the wiring diagram,i looked at my haynes manual and it made me even more confused especialy when the diagram shows the relay earths on the wrong spade. :?

I used the link that i put up earlier it made a lot more sense to me.

I did mine yesterday and it works

Fuse19 which is already got a connection in there.Follow the wire (green&black) to a clear connector and either cut it or fit a correct pin into it and send a wire to the input pin on the temp switch.
Fuse18 to fast speed on the fan.(blue wire)
Fuse3 to slow speed on fan.(blue/black)
Earth fan to earth piont behind n/s headlamp.(brown wire)
First stage out put on temp switch to Relay K1 spade 85.
Second stage output on temp switch to Relay K6 spade 85.
Spade 86 on Relay K6 send to same earth piont as fan.
Spade 86 on Relay K1 is already earthed.

I used a 7 series fan (not much room for it.)
An E36 80/88 temp switch.

Alittle bit of head scratching now and again but i`m well chuffed with me self, considering i have no wiring knowledge.
