Hi am new to the site & need advice...I am contemplating buying my friends 325i Sport, the car is a 1991 reg with 96k on the clock the car has not wanted for anything and everyting has been replaced with genuine BMW parts from electric motors, wheel bearings/hubs, switches to window seals the car had a full respray too you name it and its been done.
As I say the car is mint the work he has done to it has cost him Ԛ£6k alone. Realistically how much would you expect pay for a car in prime condition. Hes reckonning Ԛ£6k which would be my car + Ԛ£3k. Is this a bit excessive?

for Ԛ£6K it would have to be the very definition of perfection mate!
A decent tidy sport with not much wrong goes for about Ԛ£3K, Ԛ£1500- Ԛ£2K buys something that is serviceable but in need of some work, like rear arches etc.
So what your mate is after for his is at the very extreme of values, so the car would have to reflect this. Even if it is minter than mad John McMint from Mintshire, you will still have something go wrong with the car at some point.
I would just do plenty of research around on here so you know what to be looking for and possibly secure the services of a local zoner who would probably be happy to go along as a second set of eyes

Aye I thought that too!! Thing is though I live in Northern Ireland and these things are starting to fetch a premium price. I know the owner and he has cherished it and it takes no abuse. See I dont know what he values my car at either lol Its a Vauxhall Calibra R Reg FSH etc but he arse has dropped out of the market for Calibras.

I can't work out how the viscous would sort my warm running problem when it does it at speed, as the viscous prob ain't working above 40mph. Gonna have to do something soon though
Cheers Elliot

Buying cars off mates isn't always a good idea. 6K is too much. He'll be offended if you offer Ԛ£3K.

Yup could lead to trouble!!
Other mates recon Ԛ£4k - Ԛ£4.5k would be the maximum for it!
What sort of things should I look out for that are common faults with them?
