i have a 320i on a d plate and a 325i mtec sport on a g plate
i sound bad but when i quick rev the 325i the rev counter shoots round well past the 7,000 and if im doing 125ish the rev counter is going past 7,000 rpm is this normal also my eco gauge aint working and i wanna swap with my 320i ones as i know they all work
are all speedo/rev counters the same

Despite this topic being covered a few times i still not 100% on the specifics. However, i do know that clocks or rather the coding plug? do vary between 6 cyclinder and 4 cyclinder cars.
As both the 320i and 325i are 6 cyclinder you might cure your problem by swapping them. It will still leave one of the cars with the same problem though.
It could be that your 325i has been fitted with clocks / coding plug from a 4 cyclinder hence the eractic RPM reading - EDIT - has it always been like this or were the clocks working fine and then went loopy?

dont know if the 325 was allways like this as i just recently bought it
when i rev the 320 the rev counter seems slower to go up the range ( if you know what i mean
)
i took the clocks out of both and the 325 had an extra plug on it with a single wire going to it
