What size sub fits nicely in a cab boot and does not take up much space?

you cannot fit a 12 inch upright under the rear rood enclosure, thus if you want a square box to fit under this space you must only use a 10 inch.
to fit a 12inch in you must angle the speaker, this set up has 3 cubic feet of internal volume, a 4inch x 13 inch port firing to the side you cannot see, and still leaves a decent amount of space in the boot for bits and pieces...my wakeboard fits in for example!

Two 10" should be plenty, box would fit nicely underneath the hood compartment too.
I've got a 12" at the moment but it's fitted in the middle of the boot so takes up a lot of space.
I'm going for two 15" subs next

I dont even think a 10" box will fit, just measured and the max height under the roof enclosure is only 280mm.
I want an active sub enclosure but not much around that wil fit (if any)

Components at the front, co-axial at the rear and a 8 inch sub. Nice subtle setup.
Also which is better a 4 channel amp and a mono amp for the sub or a 5 channel amp do do all?

sometimes they is no point as the box size for 2 15" wont be right and you can get same sound out of 2 10" with the right sub and boxImysE30 wrote:

the "rear" was bridged and setup for a sub as it has the correct filters and knobs
and i had the speakers in the car running from the "front" outputs. However i ditched the sub and fitted some nakamichi 6.5's in the rear and still gives me enough mid bass. I also felt council with a sub in the boot.
this is the amp i have, i paid full price for it 2 year ago

from another thead, obviosly use plain grills, you may need some longer screws and washers on the bonnet release handle
My 316i had some bigger speakers in the front 6" iirc, it certainly sounded way better than any 5.25" speakers and you could feel alot more punch comming from them. I'am wondering wether or not to do it myself in the cabby
i assume there the same 6.5 naks ive got, if you havent used them yet i reccomend fitting an amp with them to get the full potential, they sound awsome and give quite a kick

Problem is I've got beige convertible kick panels which are rare. Rather have OEM TBH.

I've just fitted an alpine head unit and speakers all round in my cab, sounds nice but needs some base, any ideas for an 8" tube/box?

You are better off going for a good quality single sub than fitting 2 subs. As mentioned the E30 cab boot is small and if you put big subs in there, the box wont be built to the correct size and you wont realise the full potential of the subs so it's a waste really.
I have 2 x 12" JL W6's in mine. It should blow your head off, but with 4 amps and 2 batteries also crammed into the bood we couldnt build the box to the correct spec and to be honest a songle 12" would give the same sound as i'm getting now. I'm hardly in the car and also i wanted quality sounds so the mids and the twitters dominate my system so i''m cool with that, but if it was my daily i'd defo go for 1 sub with the correct size box

That is a valid point, i've got one 1 15" Kicker in my Civic and it's proper loud and in the green cabby i had just 1 12" 1000WRMS DB Audio sub and that was really loud too.dips346 wrote:sometimes they is no point as the box size for 2 15" wont be right and you can get same sound out of 2 10" with the right sub and boxImysE30 wrote:

In the new build i'm not bothered about boot space as i won't be doing any shopping in it
Going to start looking up box sizes, probably go for 2 12" or if possible try to get 4 subs fitted, probably 8". Go wild
