He has a boat load of photo`s of how the metalwork is progressing, no paint as yet but hopefully wont be long if i can just get these last few bits sorted. The engine bay is all sorted as is one jacking point although these may have to be re-named as we have decided to leave the mud catching rot causing square plates off, besides which youre not meant to jack off them. One non jacking pad and both rear arches to sort and then we can get some paint started.
come on Paul, the guys want pics

Update as of May 25th
Things are really moving now, most of the metalwork is complete and the beloved moredoors almost ready for paint.
I was up at Matts last saturday, relieving the chariot of its Mtech suspension for use on my other moredoor turd
Things have only been a little slow due to the enormous amount of work Matt had on (alot extra due to the doris's crashing their cars when we had that little bit of snow a while back!!)which has had to come first, as restoring E30's isnt his normal bread and butter, plus i always agreed that would be the case, so knew the timescales involved
I knew from Matts own resto thread on his sport that i wanted that kind of passion for great wormanship and attention to detail for my own car.
Anyhoooooo, time for the piccies!!!!!
The turd sitting in Matts shop, Buster's old sport looking very sorry for its self in the background

Engine bay needed new lower inner wing fillets, front panel and surplus brackets removed.....
Old front panel was a rusty mess, as were the fillet plates.......

With fillet panels removed, nearside needs new metal

Cut out.....

New section in....

Same on the drivers side....

Cleaned up to see the extent....

Bad metal removed...

New section ready to go in...

New section in...

View of fillet panels removed...

Old fillet panel, oh dear....

New front panel and fillets fitted..

Brackets for expansion tank, air filter, and ABS removed, wont be needing those

New section fabricated here for brake pipe

Drivers side jacking pad position, before.....

And before you ask, no the square pad isnt going back either.......
Nearside still to do...

Rear wheel arches, drivers side needs new arch lip and inner arch, passanger side needs new arch lip and small section to inner arch sections...

Rotten inner arch....

Small plate needed here where rear bumper Mtech fixings were..
old..

New fitted..

Rear panel with new metal in....

Towing eye position still to do..
New metal versus old in the boot..

These two look like life long friends

View of the scrap in Matts shop, that silver turds shocking

Me with the spot welder, i was shite, right pussy with it..

Matts personal calander in his office, apparently nobody but nobody is allowed to touch this except Matt

Hopefully the finished thing according to Matt should look like this....

Oh almost forgot, heres some porno for you Alpina homo's

Soon a nice coat of Misano will be put on, cant wait......

Detailed pics of one of the rotten jacking pads positioned being sorted
Before

Sorted!!
If anybody ever wondered how good Matts work is, here is a great example of just what can be achieved.

There is certainly a lot of love going into this car and loads more when Paul (finally) gets it back, i think it will be getting finished in a way no moredoor has ever seen before, it should be up there with the other top resto`s and im sure people are thinking "but why a quatroporte?" but Paul obviously loves it.

Cheers Andy, i must admit im pleased with the way that (non)jacking point turned out, it looks like it was built that way and shouldnt rust out again, ive even resigned myself to re-doing the ones on my new car as someone has done them the "easy" way so i dont hold much hope of it lastingbobbin1982 wrote:Wow some of the work people have done lately has really impressed me.. good job matt that cars gonna be around another 20 years

As Imy said , it's shocking to see rust on Pauls car as it looked so utterly mint before the work started! Paul I still think your a sick , sick , sick man with your moredoor fettish but glad it's moving on nicely for ya buddy!
