right i know there's been a few threads a while back asking how many tech 1's are still on the road but i was wondering how many GENUINE tech 2's are still out there?
c'mon folks lets see how many.
i know there's a tech2 register in the wiki but it looks like that hasn't been updated for a while.
so i'f you've got a gen tech 2 sport then post up (& add pics if you've got them).

Loads... infact so many that many owners arn't members of e30zone or even regular posters.
There was an FOI request done with the DVLA that determined the number that existed at that time, but we can scrubb one sport off that number at least.

Yeh, I didn't want to mention they were reps tho dude...
I know of at least 10 in Jersey alone (of which 2 owners post on here). 1 or possibly 2 tech-1s.
The tech2's are very common. I even know of a garaged one with <18k on the clock. Imaculate Dolphin Grey one. I want to buy it one day
Thank god I know the owners

True, but even more have been created to take their place, there are now even four doors and convertibles and some of them are the rare desireable 316 and 318i sport - perfect for cheaper insurance. They are all genuine sports 'cos it says "sport" on the V5. Everybody knows unless it says "sport" on the V5, it's a fake.bss325i wrote:I doubt it. In some areas of the midlands, BMW actually imported Motorsport saloons - even though everywhere else only got Motorsport convertibles.
These are identified by the word "motorsport" on the v5 and a minimum of 11 ///M badges on the exterior. The most sought after version has an "M-Power badge on the front ashtray.

Loving that statement cecotto479 its very true. i get sick of seeing bullshit sports and motorsports forsale when they clearly arent, the 'genuine' 316/318i sports are the ones that make me laugh the most
The tech2 is still a common car as it was made for twice as long as the rare tech1...what a shame the prices dont reflect this like they do with the S1 and S2 RS turbo.
inmo tech1 owners get robbed of their cars when they sell up compared to the tech2 owners companding rediculous money its almost criminal
Last time i checked they was 100 and something tech1's still registered with dvla compared to 1000+ tech2's

The DVLA record never have and never will be acurate as not all genuine 325i sports have "sport" on the log book.325isporttech1 wrote:Loving that statement cecotto479 its very true. i get sick of seeing bullshit sports and motorsports forsale when they clearly arent, the 'genuine' 316/318i sports are the ones that make me laugh the most![]()

To be fair, Tech 1 and Tech 2 production figures appear similar.325isporttech1 wrote:maybe so but the tech1 production run is said to be 1 year tops so makes sense considering it was 23 years ago and most have rotted away by now.
These are the figures i have........
Tech 1=2045
Tech 2=2357
There will have been an overlap in the 1988 figures tho.
Both more rare than M3
The Tech 2 massively outsold the tech 1. The production run was around a year, compared to the many of the Tech 2.csl wrote:To be fair, Tech 1 and Tech 2 production figures appear similar.

Also, this whole 'Sport' issue is funny as they only properly exist in the UK. Otherwise you just have a loaded up 325i. Considering they are bespoke cars and all.
Worldwide though, there will be a lot of M3s. The only stupidly desirable ones are the Sport Evo's and the random rare concoctions, yet everyone thinks they are now worth stupid money.
Although I would still buy an M3 now, and a Tech 1 if I had the money and found a goodun!

Uni is killing the project.

It didn't though. The figures quoted above are correct. Total Sport build figures (tech 1 & 2) come to 4402. This is split 2045 for the Tech1 and 2357 for the Tech 2. That only a difference of 309 cars.Nay wrote: The Tech 2 massively outsold the tech 1.

There was also a Japanese market 325i Sport (MrLEE on here has one) and also in Australia (reggid on here has one)bss325i wrote:Erm.. no, there was the M technic sport paket.
