e36 318is misfiring under pressure

just got a problem appearing with my is where if your driving and accelerating slowly through the rev range it drives fine as soon as you try and put any real load on it a missfire appears i'm going to change the ht leads but not sure if there are any other common problems with these that could cause it

It could be anything mate. Have you tried to replace the plugs first?

already changed the plugs i know i need to change the leads as one had a hole appeared in the side of it which ive taped up on a temp basis just wondering if there are any common problems on these causing a misfire

Check to see if the crank sensor wire is touching the water pump pulley that's if it routes that way. Also it could be the cam sensor really you need to get it on the diagnostics to find out for sure

It is worth checking the intake boot that joins the throttle body to the air flow meter. A small split will open up considerably when the engine 'torques' on acceleration causing a major bog/ flat spot.

i was going to say check for air leaks.

having said that my m52 swapper had a sieve for a inlet boot and i never noticed a fucking thing.
