Hi

I've just come to start my m20 325 for the first time since January and there is a really loud high pitch squeal coming from what seams to be the centre of the engine. It seams to turn over ok just has this constant squeal. It does not seam to change pitch with increasing the revs slightly. It had an oil change in Jan so has been sat with clean oil in it.

Any thoughts on my vauge description?

Cheers

Daz

With the engine running, drizzle a little clean water onto the belts. If that's your problem, the noise will temporarily lessen or disappear.

Thanks very much everyone, it was the power stearing belt, the noise must have been coming from the crank pulley and travelled through the block.

Cheers :D
