I’ve done some homework looking at previous discussions and would really just like confirmation and advice on the following:

I’ve got an E36 (M50) 2.5 engine / loom / ECU etc with E36 alloy engine mounts as recommended, an E34 throttle cable and an E36 (M42) 318is Getrag Gearbox.
I’ve got the E34 sump / oil pick up pipes / dipstick & tube and am planning to use the M50 flywheel / clutch (do I use the release bearing from an E36 325i or from a 318is ?)
I’ve got a pair of M52 exhaust manifolds (do I use the E36 M50 lambda sensor and will these require modification if using ”aDan the”a steering column modification to standard E30 steering rack ?)
Will E34 525i (M50) rubber engine mounts be ok to use?
With the gearbox, should I use the M42 linkage / gearlever or the original 320 linkage / gearlever ? same question for the gearbox cradle, original E30 320i cradle or E36 318is cradle with the M42 gearbox rubber mounts ?
Can I use the original prop-shaft with the original 320 differential ?
I’m planning on using the E36 325i radiator as it’s almost new.
I’m going to use a Renault Clio electric fan (reverse wired) wired into water circuit for operation.
Lastly, will the Renault Clio servo work with the E30 master cylinder or should this be uprated ?

Any advice gratefully received,

Thanks.

Ditch the M50 flywheel/clutch & starter motor for an M20 one.

Dont think you have to moddify the mannies for the "dan the" column set up. But will need to blank off lamba holes on the M52 mannies and do some modding to them for the down pipes.

You can use the E34 M50 mounts.
Dont know about the gear box stuff.(it`s easier to use an M40 box.)

You may have to use an E36 prop because of the gearbox you want to use. Use an M40 box and the 320 prop will be right so will the cradel and selector.

Diff ,no it`s a small case that`s fitted to a 320

Rad, sound but i think the M52 one is deeper.
Never heard of a clio fan being used but anythings possible i suppose. :)

Servo matches up with mc ok,just need to make the spacer.

I`d consider changing the rack for an E36 one also,it would be a pig of a job to do with lump in situ if you decided to do it at a later date.

Just my two peneth :)

when you use the m20 flywheel and clutch, just use the bearing that comes with the clutch,
then you can weld a spacer onto the clutch fork to compensate for the thinner flywheel.

I dont know about m42 but m50 flywheel is dual mass type so its thicker.

Thanks for all answers,
The reason I was going to use the M50 flywheel etc is I'm after building a nice, reasonably powered car for touring, I'm not after super fast acceleration / lightening quick changes etc.
If the 320 diff is no good, what should I be using ?

You basically need to be looking for a medium case diff, normally found on 325`s.
I`m going to be using a 3.91 from a touring.

If you use a small case diff you`l rip it to bits in no time!
