Apart from the e30 ,I also run my e34 525 se .
Its got 160K on it but runs fine and I was looking into the idea of popping a "mildish" chip in it if I can. I dont want to bust it.

Image

So the questions are ;

1, what type of chip should I go for
2, how much will it cost
3, can I install it myself
4, would I benefit from this

Thanks in advance for your "supreme " knowledge guys.

If they are M50B25 non-VANOS with 405 ECU, then according to fellow Zoner 320ise who put one in his E34, it gave similar or better performance than the 535i (with improved fuel economy, of course, and a raised rev limit of 7,000rpm).

He had this to say about it:

"the chip:

is more than i could have expected my car had the ebay pro-perfomance chip in and the speed touch chip is far far better!

it runs smoother than ever, there is no flat spots like the ebay chip and i have also noticed a good increase in mpg! the power is unreal! my car is a 525i non vanos with a few tweaks like bbtb and fan delete and piper viper 2 induction and no word of lie this car is now faster than a 535i i know as i used to own one!

to sum up he really is a great seller and really helpfull and the chip as stated above is awesome! i would reccomend him to anyone and if you have a m50 non vanos do your self a favour and buy one of these! "

The chip will not be suitable in that case; try e-mailing Ant at A-Tech for one.

Thanks,

EcoTorq M20B25 Mild; 7-11bhp gain, significantly enhances the torque for driveability/improved fuel economy (expect at least an extra 2-3mpg average) and eliminates flat spots, also a 6900rpm rev limit. An ideal blend for daily motoring, also works well with automatics.

M20B25 Wild; 8-15bhp gain, up to 192bhp if combined with 268/268 cam, BBTB and six-branch as per Alpina C2 2.5 spec, 6500rpm rev limit. Best suited for fast road/track day use.

Thanks,
No, they are for the 405 ECU, but you can readily swap the 402/403 ECU for a 405.

Quite simply, plug & play, with so soldering or special tools required - see the Zone Chip Fitting guide here:
http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/inde ... ting_Guide

It takes around half an hour, or alot less with experience.
