can anyone tell me hoe the viscous fan works thanks

There is a fluid inside the fan hub that changes consistency in response to temperature. When cool it allows the fan blades to free wheel i.e. no cold air is passed over the radiator. When hot the fluid locks the fan blades to the hub so drawing cool air over the rad.
