Wiring query

OK, so yesterday I sold my M40B18 and before it went I chopped of the C101 plug.

Thing is, I have 14 pins:



and 16 wires:



Also the wiring table i have (from Brianmooooooore) states the colour of the E30 wires, but there are several wires the same colour!

Any help would be great!

Some are double wires..

It some wires are the same colour but different gauges

Well, I have two pairs of wires that are the same colour for:

Fuel Rate to instrument cluster (White/Black)
Unknown (Green/White)

What happens with these, just get wired together or is there two on the M50 loom that they can each be matched to?

I also have a pin 12 in the C101 plug, which is for "Engine Fault" and the corresponding wire should be grey, but I have no grey wire!?!?!

wire it according to the pin numbers, don't wire it from colour to colour

Take the rubber boot off and see where the wires go!!

P.S: The colours I've given are from one real life conversion, connecting one particular M50Tu loom to an E30 325i plug, and are not to be taken as definitive.

Right, I've just taken the rubber boot off and the colours/pins from Brian match my plug.

and as Jhonno the double wires go to pins 13 & 6.

Also, as per Brianmoooores wiring warning, I've checked pin 20 on the engine side of the C101 and there is nothing there. So am I safe against starting a fire?

This wire is in the engine loom?
Plain brown should really be an earth, but you come across iddities from time to time!
There's nothing on the E30 car side to connect up with it, so it normally won't make any difference what the wire is.
If this wire is the engine fault light wire from the ECU (pin you need to connect it to one side of a 1.2W 12 volt bulb, and connect the other side of the bulb to 12 volt +, ignition switched.

Just wondering...

For the wiring have people been cutting the wires and soldering the c101 plug onto the M50 engine loom

or

have people been able to remove the pins from both plugs and then insert the M50 pins into the C101 plug?
