My alternator is not watercooler, and it's effin tight. doesn't touch, though.

Colin, I had to drop it the dreaded 20mm
I still believe I could have done without, but a little mistake along the way when I was doing my mounts and no time to do them again forced me to drop it.

Even with the pucks? Steering will feel a tad off with the subframe dropped.

pucks should have sorted it out, but I didn't have the time to finish the last modifications I wanted to make in the end. (I probably would have kept the subframe spaced 5mm, but that's not half as bad)
So the subframe is dropped at the moment, but it will be raised back in the future. - Should it be thanks to the hockey pucks or new subframe/engine mounts (I'm on standard m60 engine mounts and modded the subframe)

I haven't even seen the car for 9 month, though, and I'm more than busy with other things at the moment - Analysis (mainly calculus in Rn), Geometry, Physics (Newtonian, Lagrangian and Thermodynamics), Static and metallurgy exams in two weeks.
Then motorsport during the summer holiday, and getting the 340 back to Switzerland when I get a minute. Only then will I see about making the old bus better.

Hi.

Some of you may be wondering what's going on with my build, and i've got some bad news :) It's going nowhere. I got screwed up over the engine (m60b40), sold my engine, and now i ain't got notthing to put in :)
At this moment i'm searching for an engine but the market is empty. No engine in sight.
So for now i'm not touching it a bit. Maby one day i'll snap and burn that piece of **** and smash it with a really big hammer :D

So stay tuned, maby something happens :D

What about bying the whole car, there are lots of 540's for sale and if you sell the parts you most probably end even.

My search has extended to uk :D that's how much 540e34 we have around here :D

I can find an engine that was fitted with an auto tranny, but what good does it do to me, when i still need 6 speed tranny and a flywheel.
I have an offer engine 800€ 5 speed 100€ and flywheel assembly for aprox 100€. Is it ok? No. First 3 will be useless, with the diff ratios that i can look up arround here.

Anyway i'm still not sure what to do. There is a 6speed for a sale, but it's jumping out of second gear i think. Anyway something is wrong with it. And that's about all we have here :)

m60b40 engine, m62 b35 flywheel, 6speed tranny just don't fit together.

otherwise, the gearboxes (both 5 and 6 speed) are more readily available on the internet than complete manual cars.
Why don't you buy an auto 540, a gearbox, 2nd hand flywheel (found mine on ebay.de with a good friction plate still on) and try to pay back the 2 last ones with the profit you should make breaking the first?

The prices you're quoting are all ok (cheap for the flywheel if the clutch is on) if the stuff is not junk, but it can (depends a bit on one's luck) be done for less.

And if you've got the whole car, you already have loads of little bits that are handy to have like front part of the prop, throttle cable, tons of wires, hoses, etc...

It's been a while since i posted any updates, but I'm happy to report that things have started to move along and I've bought an engine. It's a 4litre m60 taken out of 740 e32. I've also found a 6 speed tranny, but I'm waiting with purchase until i find flywheel and whole clutch assembly. If i don't find it, maybe i'll use 5speed which one i have also located, or the second alternative is to make myself a whole custom made flywheel, but the problem with the last alternative is the clutch again :) i'll have to figure this one out, which one to use. Because i've heard that stock clutch has tendency to slip. So some sort of racing one for a reasonable price would be nice to find :)

Anyway updates will follow, this time for sure :)

btw, does anyone know if the e32 and e38 m60 engine wiring looms are the same?!? :)

p.s Could admins/mods move this thread to m60 section :) thanks :)
